The Centro di Terapia Breve Strategica in Arezzo, Italy

The CTS of Arezzo is a research, training and clinical Institute, which houses the School of Specialization in Brief Strategic Psychotherapy and the School of Communication and Strategic Problem Solving.

Founded in 1989, the CTS is an institute officially acknowledged by Italian M.I.U.R (Ministero Istruzione Università Ricerca). The Centro has been active since 1987 both in Italy and abroad, where it received numerous international scientific acknowledgements thanks to the application of a rigorous empirical-experimental research method that has allowed the creation of advanced clinical intervention (Brief Strategic Psychotherapy BST), communication (Strategic Communication), and organizational problem-solving models (Strategic Problem Solving), published in numerous books and scientific journals.

Such a scientific and practical contribution represents a real “School of thought” which is being used and practised by professionals in psychotherapy, training, consultancy and managerial communication all over the world.

Twenty-six books have been published and translated in various languages, which report the various clinical-research outcomes carried out by the C.T.S.

The C.T.S holds its branches all over Italy, Europe and also in the USA, directed by affiliated psychotherapists and consultants, who collaborate actively in the various fields of research in the application of the BST Model. The continuous collaboration and exchange of clinical-research data, allow the on-going evolution of the Model and the design and application of efficient and effective treatment protocols, specifically set for specific pathologies (phobic-obsessive disorders, eating disorders, child pathologies, etc).

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Giorgio Nardone, has been recently entrusted with the charge of coordinating the activities of the Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy European Network. The Network was founded during the first European Congress "EUROPEAN WAYS OF BRIEF THERAPY- looking at the past to see the future", held at Arezzo in November 2003, where over 700 professionals participated from all over the globe.
